The White Family of Nances Creek, Alabama

The Obituaries of Martin S. White and Willie Albert White

M.S. White, 88, died Wednesday morning, September 13th, at his home at Nances Creek, following an illness of two months.  recently, however, Mr. White had appeared to be improving until suddenly a few hours before his death.

Mr. White is survived by his widow, four sons; W.R. White of Stroud [Oklahoma], J.H. of DeArmanville, Alabama, Luther and Gordon of Nances Creek; five daughters, Mrs. Bettie Batson, Mrs. D.H. Cole, Mrs. J.H. Crow, all of White Plains, Mrs. Will Brown of Cedar Springs and Mrs. Clifford McFry of Piedmont; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  A son and daughter preceded him in death.  Mr. White was the last of a family of himself and two sisters.

Mr. White had lived practically all his life in Nances Creek community where he was widely known and held in high esteem.  Mr. White professed faith in Christ and joined the Methodist church at an early age and lived a life of a true Christian until his death.

General services were held Friday morning, September 14th, at Nances Creek church, the Rev. T. R. Jordan and the Rev. Hanvy officiating.  Interment was in the church yard cemetery.

A grandson, Willie Albert White, preceded his grandfather in death at Stroud, 24 hours and 30 minutes, passing away September 11th at 11 p.m.  Willie was born at White Plains, Alabama, May 24, 1911.  He came with his parents to Stroud in 1913, where he lived a highly and respected life and was esteemed by all who knew him.  Willie numbered his friends by his acquaintances.  At home he was a kind and obedient child.  A harsh word never came from his lips.  He always found time to aid a friend when he needed help.  Two days before his going he called his loved ones to his bed side, saying death was sure and he had prepared to go.

All was done that could be, to save him, for five long weeks, he bore his intense suffering with a kind heart, and patience, before he was called to rest.  He was the first of the family to be called away, leaving his parents, four sisters, three brothers, four nieces and three nephews, beside a host of other relatives and friends.

The death angel fell with a cold and heavy hand upon this family, calling from us two dear ones a son and grandfather.

The son and brother being just a rose in full bloom was called away to wither and die.

We are looking forward to meeting our dear ones when life's troubles are over and we cross the great divide to clasp their hands on heaven's golden shore where there will be no heart aches and tears or saying goodbye to our dear ones.

Willie Albert White was born in White Plains, Alabama, May 24, 1911, and departed this life Tuesday, September 11th at 11 o'clock p.m. at the age of 23 years, 3 months and 18 days.

He came with his parents, to Stroud, September, 1913, where he had resided since, and had formed a large circle of friends.
