General Notes:
Per Vic Jeter: "My father's notes indicated that John Kimball was born in Ne w York about 1818 and moved west to Michigan, arriving in Nottawa township o f St. Joseph County sometime around 1840 as subsequent census records indicat e his first child, Mary, was born there about 1841. I have not been able to find John in the 1830 and 1840 census records for New York, Ohio, or Michiga n.
Noted events in his life were:
• Census, 1850, Film M432-362, Page 324).
• Medical: suffered from DROPSY.
John married Alice Pischal about 1841 in New York Or Michigan?. (Alice Pischal was born in 1823 in Probably Cayuga County, New York 1 and died in 1887.)
Marriage Notes:
Attached is copy of a photo of John F. Kimball and Alice Pischal from my gran dmothers's album. The photo had no date but likely it was taken in Kansas and probably between 1870 and 1880. My grandmother said her grandmother Alice wa s Irish and that her maiden name was Pischal. I think that this name may hav e later become anglicized to "Pickle". Both were born in New York, John in 181 8 and Alice in 1823, and both likely in Cayuga County. John died in 1884 on his wagon near Sharon in western Harper Co., KS after giving instructions to his youngest son, John G., on the operation of the family farm. He suffered from dropsy. I checked all of the cemeteries in that area and failed to find a marker or record of his death and burial. Alice P. Kimball died in 1887 a t the home of her daughter, Cynthia Hawkins. While Cynthia was living with h er family in Cowley Co., KS in 1885, I have been unable to locate her whereab outs after that time nor have I been able to locate any death/burial records for Alice in the county. Some of the family thought Cynthia might have been l iving in Arkansas City of that county when Alice was living with her. 9/03/2 000 e-mail from Vic Jeter
