General Notes:
Date: 1/27/06 My friend Willie Alexander who married Ronnie's 3rd Cuz (they live near Ft. Worth, Tx) Has found who Jane is I do believe. You remember I told you about finding a Jane White, aunt, living in Shelby Co Al with a Francis M. Pitts and family, on the 1880 C. and we felt like our trail was getting warm. Well, Willie found her on the 1900 C in Shelby Co - Wilsonville- living with James L. Ray. She is Jane Morgan, Mother-in-law. Wife of James L. Ray is Jane's daughter Vianna and she has 3 children. We knew it was her when we saw her daughter's name Vianna!!!
From there Willie went on to the Shelby Co. Ala GenWeb site and it is a wonderful site. He found this in divorce records: Jane Hardin vs John B. Hardin in records from 1839-1847. and then.....he found in marriage records 1824-1850---Pleasant D. White married Jane Robertson on 18 Oct. 1842. We were talking to each other over Yahoo! w/voice and we were screaming with joy. Couldn't believe we had found her. We both believe it's just got to be her. Her maiden name was Robertson. She must have married John B. Hardin at about age 19 or 20. And then married P.D. White which we think is Pleasant D. White. They then moved to Benton Co. Al (now Calhoun Co) where Martin S. White was born. If they were m. in 1842 that makes our Jerusha a White!!! We have found in Death records in Ala. a Jane Morgan d 25 Dec 1912 in Calhoun Co. It's possible she was living with different children and left her daughter Vianna's house in Shelby Co. to come live with her son Martin S. in Calhoun Co. and died there. That would make her about 92 when she died. Still don't know where she is buried. And also don't know why she used the last name Morgan. She was a Robertson, she m a Hardin, she m a White. Her daughter Jerusha m a Morgan. We are finding some Morgans along with the Rays as we read about them but so far can't figure out why she used this Morgan last name after Pleasant D. White died. The only other White name Willie has found in Shelby Co. is a Doctor White on a voting list. Willie laughed and said you don't think his name was Pleasant Doctor White do you????
Now, the great thing about Ancestry.Com is we went to the One World Tree and typed in Henry W. Robertson b 27 Feb 1782 m Rebecca Roberts b abt 1788 and there you have it --Jane's Parents-- and Ronnie's Great-Great-Great GrandParents.
Date: 1/16/06: Good Morning! We have found a JANE WHITE on the 1880 C Ala Shelby Co - Wilsonville. She is living with a Pitts family - Francis M. and Mary Ann with 4 children. JANE WHITE is listed as an aunt. Don't know if this is our JANE MORGAN or not. The age is 60. That works. Do you have any pictures of a grave or marker for Jane at the Nances Creek Cemetery. I can not find out the year she died.
2/13/06: Willie and I talked late last night and we agreed that Jane must have married a Morgan after Pleasant died. He died I believe 1867. I remembered something I had seen on Susan Fann's tree of Jeptha Washington Morgan that no one else had- Susan has a 3rd marriage listed for Jeptha to a "J. N. ???' Also on her tree of P. D. White she says that P. D. and Jane live next door to Jeptha Morgan and hence his son John D. Morgan married Jane's daughter, Jerusha. I knew that was it --Jane m. Jeptha sometimes after Jeptha's wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Stewart died in 1888. But Willie had already found it. I had an e-mail from him at about 2 am in the morning saying he believed Jane m Jeptha!!! > P. D. White died 1867 > Jane is on 1880 C Shelby Co Al as Jane White, aunt of the Pitts family > Elizabeth "Betsy" Stewart d 1888???? > Susan has Jeptha marries a J. N. on 15 Dec 1887???? > There is no 1890 C > Jeptha Washington d 1897 > Jane is on 1900 C with her daughter Vianna's family as Jane Morgan > There is a death of a Jane Morgan in Calhoun Co. 25 Dec 1912 > > Where is Jane Buried??? I would almost bet she came back to Calhoun Co. to > live with Martin S. or Jerusha and is buried there in Nances Creek. We will go > there soon!!! It's possible the grave is not marked. > > Willie has found another tree that puts Henry W. Robertson and Rebecca as > being from N.C. I will get that info to you later. I am looking at purchasing > 2006 Family Tree Maker. Would that be better than downloading something free. > I have tried my best to share everything with Susan, but she want respond. > Your enthusiasm is heartwarming. Thank you for caring. I think finding out > who Jane is and her parents is a "BIG DEAL". I helped a lot but much credit > goes to my new friend in Tx: Willie Alexander.
