Jacob married Margaret McComus, daughter of Unknown Kennedy and Unknown, on 30 Mar 1793.¹

Jacob next married Unknown Dever, daughter of Unknown Dever and Unknown, in Virginia.

  Marriage Notes:

Jacob Gum was married in Virginia. We do not know the name of
his wife. We b elive she was a Dever, a sister of Owen. WE
cannot find a marriage record. A T that time, the marriage
records were kept by the churches. It was not until the states
becamse part of the United STates that laws were passed
requiring the state (countries) to keep the records. We do not
believe that Owen Deve r married a sister of Jacob Gum since
Owen's claim passed to other men of the Dever family and the
records of Madison County give the impression that he was
single. Owen died before 1789 in Madison County which had been
formed from Lincoln County.
